Overcoming COVID-19 in construction

The coronavirus has affected all areas of life. Construction was no exception and at a time when we are beginning to emerge from this situation it is necessary to consider all the measures to be taken into account to protect workers involved in the realization of a work.

The coronavirus has affected all areas of life. Construction was no exception and at a time when we are beginning to emerge from this situation it is necessary to consider all the measures to be taken into account to protect workers involved in the realization of a work.

At Pavistamp we want to take care of each other and that is why we want to contribute with the dissemination of mandatory safety measures to take all the necessary precautions when attending a job.

Construction, as in the rest of the jobs, is also affected by the complexity at the time of adapting the daily work to the current situation but, if we all help each other, it will be easier and faster the way forward. The transition to the new normality reveals the need to protect all workers individually and collectively.

Preventive measures in construction

The National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health established guidelines for good practices in construction sites, thus establishing measures for the prevention of Covid infection in this sector.

The basic individual protection is the correct personal and respiratory hygiene. This includes the cleaning of hands and, for this purpose, workers must have a space where they can adequately clean themselves, with soap, hydroalcoholic solution and disposable handkerchiefs. It is also extremely important to cover the nose and mouth when in contact with other people.

Maintaining an interpersonal distance of two meters was also one of the successful measures during this time. In this context, it continues to be highly relevant. Whether on the way to work or during the working day, it is necessary to promote this safety distance between workers, adapting and/or postponing tasks if necessary.

The safety of construction workers in the face of the spread of coronavirus must be a priority that will probably involve new ways of working, new work organization conditions and new costs on construction sites.

The awareness of all workers is very important in order to avoid contagion, since, in this way, everyone will be able to recognize symptoms of possible covid and notify the competent health authorities.

Protection of haulers when bringing materials to the site

When a transporter brings material to a construction site, he must also take all the necessary precautions and, if he unloads material, he must do so in specific areas for this task, taking care of the distances or without coming into contact with people at the construction site.

All deliveries will be articulated through previously coordinated mechanisms. At the same time, all activities that do not require the physical presence of the person will be carried out telematically. Technology is becoming increasingly important.

Likewise, in construction sites or enclosed spaces, periodic ventilation is promoted together with disinfection after the use of each of the tools.

Faced with the current situation, at Pavistamp we continue to promote innovation and improvement in our production processes. We want to guarantee the safety of the applicators, of the entrepreneurs who purchase our products for very ambitious construction works, of the transporters and of all of us who are part of this company. We take the issue with the seriousness it deserves and let us unite to overcome this situation.
